HSVC4404-Help for VC4404 on SUVM This sheet tells you how to use a Volker Craig VC4404 (Chat) terminal with CMS after signing on with the suvm command. This sheet assumes you know how to use an IBM 3278-style terminal, with its PF keys and other special function keys. If you have a VC4404, this sheet tells you about how to use it in ADM-3 mode (as opposed to VC404 mode). Starting late summer, 1991, this is the only way in which VC4404s can be used on SUVM. To use this mode, make sure dip-switch 1 is set to 1 (as described in the VC4404's manual). After typing the suvm command, you will get the prompt ENTER TERMINAL TYPE: Respond to this with adm3a. Then you will get the SU/VM greeting. While you are using SUVM, errors caused by the phone line will make the terminal lock up and sound the bell whenever you press a key. Use the Reset function to recover from this. The rest of this sheet tells you what keys to use to do various functions. Sometimes two or more keys are required to perform a function: if the function requires a sequence of keys, the list shows commas between the names of the keys. Most of these functions are 3278 functions. 3278 Function VC4404 Key Sequence ---- -------- ------ --- -------- Enter RETURN Clear CTRL and z Erase EOF CTRL and p Delete Character DELETE Toggle Insert Mode CTRL and y Field Tab TAB Field Backtab CTRL and o PA1 ESC, Comma PA2 ESC, .
